Hydrogenation Reactor

Hydrogenation reactors

As the name implies, the reactor used for reactions that require the adding of hydrogen before or during the reaction process is a hydrogenation reactor.
Because all hydrogenation requires a catalyst, hydrogenation reactors are also called catalytic hydrogenation reactors.

Categories and Specifications

As a hydrogenation reactor manufacturer, WHGCM produces hydrogenation apparatus for fine chemical applications in the petroleum, pharmaceutical, and dyestuff fields. WHGCM manufactures kettle-type batch or semi-dispersed hydrogenation reactors with a capacity of less than 20,000 liters in place of large-scale fixed-bed hydrogenation tower reactors. Currently, WHGCM can manufacture hydrogenation reactors in two main categories: laboratory hydrogenation reactors and kettle-style hydrogenation reactors.

Special apparatuses for hydrogenation reactor

A、Lower outlet filter:

For filtering catalyst particles during unloading

B、Gas distributor:

gas distribution The general structure of a hydrogenation reactor is that the lower part of the reactor is equipped with a gas distributor, through which the hydrogen is mixed with the material from the bottom of the vessel from the bottom up;

C、Hydrogenation reactor agitator type

Hydrogenation reactors enable safe and reliable mixing, reacting, and material development while ensuring precise temperature and pressure control.

Agitator shaft and paddles Hydrogenation Agitator Paddles types
Hollow agitator shaft + combined
stirring paddle
Combined stirring paddle: Propulsion Paddle + self-priming Paddle + inclined-blade
disc turbine Paddle.

D、Explosion-proof apparatuses:

Due to the flammability and explosiveness of hydrogen. Leakage and explosion protection are the necessary features of hydrogenation reactors.

To prevent the hydrogen leakage of the reactor and explosion, the electrical parts of the hydrogenation reactor are all explosion-proof, such as the motor explosion-proof motor and heater are applied for explosion-proof heating, and the temperature measuring sensor and pressure sensor are chosen for explosion-proof, to prevent sparks.

apparatuses required by normal reactors, such as overpressure protectors, pressure relief devices, temperature sensors, etc.
The special apparatuses are necessarily required by the hydrogenation reactor for security.

(2)、Magnetic couplings shaft

Generally, reactor agitators use mechanical seals or packing seals, and there is a risk of poor sealing at the joined position where the drive shaft connects to the agitator shaft.

WGHCM uses magnetic couplings to realize the transmission of the drive shaft to the mixing shaft, avoiding leakage. Because the magnetic coupling shaft drives the agitator shaft by magnetic force, without direct contact. So, it can support the total enclosed style of the kettle body perfectly.

E、Material:

The material contact with the medium in the reaction vessel of the hydrogenation reactor, are usually includes:
Hydrogen-proof steel, stainless steel, and non-ferrous metals such as titanium, copper alloys (high-temperature and high-pressure reactors), zirconium, etc. The reactor vessel can be
spraying tetrafluoroethylene in the kettle and lining of nickel (Ni6) also.

Application:

They are essential tools for various chemical processes, including polymerization, hydrogenation, and dehydrogenation.
They use hydrogen gas to reduce or remove unsaturation in organic compounds.
Hydrogenation reactors increase the efficiency of the process, reduce reaction time and energy consumption, and minimize environmental impact.

They are widely used in the chemical, pharmaceutical, and food industries, among others.

WHGCM has more than ten years of experience in designing and producing hydrogenation reactors, and the hydrogenation reactors we produce have zero leakage and zero accidents and are highly praised by the majority of users.
